What to Pack

Clothing and Personal Items

When packing clothing for rehab, you want to pack with comfort and practicality in mind. Be sure to bring:

  • Comfortable shoes for various occasions (sneakers for outdoor activities, flip-flops for the shower, and leisure shoes)
  • 5-7 days worth of comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (jeans, shorts, sweatpants, athleticwear, T-shirts, etc.)
  • One or two dressy or semi-formal outfits for special occasions
  • Socks
  • Undergarments
  • One swimsuit
  • A hat for wearing outdoors

Other personal items you may pack include:

  • A journal and writing utensils
  • Stamps and envelopes for letter-writing
  • Pictures of loved ones
  • Recovery-based literature

The Essentials

There are some items you don’t want to forget. Essentials that you should pack for rehab include:

  • Drivers license or state ID
  • Social security card
  • Proof of insurance
  • Credit and/or debit card
  • A small amount of cash for purchases
  • Prescription medications in their original bottle with the medication label in-tact
  • An emergency contact list
  • Contact information of family members, your sponsor, or other loved ones

Toiletries

Basic toiletries like toilet paper, laundry detergent, and hand soap will be provided to you. Some toiletries you may want to bring include:

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Hair styling products that come in a tube or pump–no aerosols
  • Hair brush or comb
  • Sunscreen
  • Lotion
  • Feminine hygiene products

What Not to Pack

Some items are prohibited for the safety of staff and clients. If you aren’t sure whether or not you should bring something, simply give us a call and speak with a team member.

Items that you shouldn’t pack include:

  • Weapons including knives, scissors, razor blades, and sharp objects
  • Food and drinks
  • Pornography
  • Hygiene products that contain alcohol
  • Aerosols
  • Nail polish or nail polish remover
  • Video games, computers, and other electronics
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Candles, incense, and diffusers
  • Personal items or clothing with references to drugs, alcohol, violence, sex, or any other type of profanity

Any items that are confiscated from you upon intake will be safely stored away and returned to you after completing treatment.
